hot tea

When there's time, it's perfect to have extended breakfasts with steaming tea and warming porridge. I've had the small brown betty teapot for some time, but it was languishing at work unused. So now it's come home, and I made it a teacosy. Continuing the frugal theme, I made it out of things I already had in the house. So this is all from scraps of leftover yarn, and I just made the design up as I went along. The source of the leftovers:

  • Orange house bricks: from new hat for A, knitted for Xmas 2013
  • Brown house bricks: from a scarf for me, knitted a very long time ago.
  • Sky: from baby blanket
  • Sun: from fried egg jumper
  • Grass & trees: from two jumpers knitted for A (one abandoned, more to come on this) in Summer 2013.
  • Window frames & shutters: Sarah Lund jumper
  • Roof tiles: a new cardigan for me, knitted Autumn & Xmas 2013 (more to come on this).
  • Roof grout: scarf knitted for friend years ago.

The backing fabric was leftover from a jacket I had made several years ago, so the tea is now indeed kept warm by bits and bobs from many different stories.
